Awesome Edward the 1st Silver Penny
Check what my parents got me as a early Christmas and partying gift before moving to Korea. Supposedly dates from 1279-1307 and was minted in Canterbury. I can't believe some thing so old cost only 22 pounds. I'm not one for numismatic coins. I just prefer cold hard bullion but this thing is beautiful.

Congratulations.
Yours looks rather good in comparison with the only two Cantuarian-minted ones on here: http://www.ukcoinpics.co.uk/pen1.html |
Re: Awesome Edward the 1st Silver Penny
I was given some Roman coins as a gift a few years back. Evey time I look at them I wonder at the history at which the coins were present.
A *silver* penny? I'll bet at the time of minting, a peasant would have to work for close to a week to earn that. |

Correction 11 pounds. But just to think a penny was actually once silver and soon will be steel.
